Saturday 25th June.

M.A.M qualifer at manor farm.
Drew peg 20 on middle.
With 18 in I thought he'd be the one to beat.
Started off catching well on pellets at 14.5m then  had a good run of F1s shallow.  Middle part of the match my peg came alive and I caught quite well.
Last hour and a half though I've really struggled and only had a big mirror and a few F1s.
I've had around 35ish fish and weighed 98-0-0. Putting me 2nd on the lake and 4th overall.
Peg 18 qualified and won the lake. He caught all big carp which is what let me down.
Roll on next time!!!

Fished pellets long all day for 15 carp that went 63lb.

Sunday 12th June.

Today I have been to bourton on the water lakes for the open match. My first visit to this venue. After not really knowing what I needed to do I decided just to fish what I'm confident in.
Pellet fishing on the deck and shallow and down the edge.
I drew peg 7 which meant nothing to me so I based my approach like this....
Pellets at top 5.
Pellets at 13m.
Groundbait and dead maggots either side of me.
Down my left had margin I had an old pallet about 8m along the bank so I fished against that thinking they'd come there for safety and the other margin line was top 5 to my right.
I fed my edge lines at the start. The left hand line I decided to feed more positively and the right hand side not so much.
I shipped out to 13m and started pinging pellets, i started having indications straight away which was promising. Then I found out what they were.... Rudd!
I was fishing a 4mm pellet but the Rudd seemed to take an interest in that so a quick change to 6mm stopped them.
I started catching a few carp but they were only quite small.
I caught a couple shallow at the half way stage and had to keep working really had to rotate between the deck and shallow.
By 3:00 there were 2 hours remaining and looking round I felt I was doing ok.
So fed some more bait down the edge and went straight on it.
I started on the left had side and kept being pestered by Rudd....
I had a quick look to my right and saw a big swirl over my bait and went straight on it. I hooked one instantly which was a better stamp fish. I caught steadily on this line until the end of the match. The key was big potting groundbait and maggots every fish.
I fed around 2kg of groundbait and 3 pints of dead maggots.
At the all out i had around 24 carp.
I weighed in 56-0-0 which put me 3rd overall.
60-0-0 was 2nd
And 78-0-0 won.
I felt If I'd of known a little bit more about the venue i could of filled in those dry spells which would of helped me boost up my weight.
Will deffintly be going back there.

Saturday 11 June 2016

Saturday 11th June.

Today I went back to ivy house for the open match.
I drew peg 5. This peg is on a point slightly so your a little bit further out than people around you which is a big advantage.
I started off short on pellets and had a big skimmer after 10 minutes. Looking around not a lot was being caught so I fed my worm line at 14.5m to my left and
then went 14.5m to my right on the deck fishing pellets and pinging pellets over the top. I had a carp after 5 minutes and then picked up a few skimmers. I started getting liners so picked up the shallow rig and caught a few on that.
I stayed on this pretty much for the rest of the match catching at all different depths and working really hard for bites.
I manged 15 carp and couple of big skimmers for 78-0-0 enough to win the match!!!

Tuesday 7 June 2016

Sunday 5th June

Today I returned to ivy house for the open match to try and get my head around the venue.
I drew peg 19. Which had a lovely looking margin which plumbed up nicely at 14.5m and this was to be my main attack.
I start the match short on pellets and had a carp after 5 minutes which was a good start.
I then went out on my worm line at 14.5m and began catching a few skimmers steadily to try and boost my weight up. At this point I probably had around 20lb and des shipp opposite had well over double that.
I decided to set up a new line where I'd just feed a few 4mm pellets and fish expanders over the top.
This proved to be good as In the next hour I manged another 3 carp.
By around 2:00 I had around 8 carp and some skimmers.
I had been feeding my edge line with dead maggots throughout the match and decided to have a look on it. I began catching carp steadily and had to keep big potting bait every fish to get them back.
Going into the last hour I hoped that this edge line would get stronger but it didn't really and I ended with only 3 carp in the last hour.
I managed 19 carp and some skimmers to weigh 93lb which won the match overall.
Des Shipp was 2nd
And my good mate Chris Telling was 3rd overall and won the silvers. Chris is very good at worm fishing and his results show that.  He's won the silvers the last 3 matches at ivy house.

Saturday 4th June.

Today I went to Ivy house lakes in Wooton Bassett. This is only my 2nd visit to the venue.
I drew peg 13 which meant nothing to me but heard it was quite a good skimmer area.
Decided to fish for them but it's didn't really go to plan as they didn't properly feeder.
To cut a long story short i managed 3 carp and a few skimmers for 18-0-0 for nowwhere.
I learnt a lot from today though about worm fishing, which should stand me in good stead for upcoming matches.

Friday 3 June 2016

Monday 31st may.

Manor farm open.
Peg 12 middle.
Struggled all day.
46lb.
Roll on next time!

Sunday 30t May

Alder farm open match.
Peg 16.
This fish were spawning so thought It might fish a little difficult.
This peg has a plug at about 6m where water from the spring runs into.
I set up to fish pellets longs and short and my main attack was to be the edge lines. I set 2 up. One at top 6 to my right and the other at 14.5m to the next pallet.
I started long and didn't have a bite for 20 minutes.
I decided to have a look down the edge to the next pallet.  And began catching steadily.  An hour passed an had around 12 carp.  I fed groundbait down here and I then began foul hooking them.  So I gave it 3 pots of groundbait and had a look on my shorter edge line. Where I'd just been potting In maggots throughout the day.
I began catching instantly, and was clear maggots was the way to go.
I kept resting my edge lines but I didn't have a bite in open water???
I think its to deep up this end in open water and the fish want to be in the shallow water. Hence why i caught down my edge.
With an hour to go my peg was getting stronger and decided to go back on my long margin line and had 7 quick fish.  Then came back on my shorter edge line for a steady last 30 minutes.
I managed 39 carp. (Small ish stamp) for 105-0-0. Which was enough for 5th overall.
Looking back at my match I'd of gone out and out maggots down the edge and rotated between my 2 edge lines quicker.
I found potting in half a pot of maggots when it went quiet was best, as they'd come straight back on it then.

Saturday 29th May.

Ivy house lakes open.
This was my first visit to the venue and was looking forward to it.
I drew peg 2.
I started short on pellets and had an early carp and a skimmer.
Went out long pinging pellets and caught a couple of small carp.
With this being a 6 hour match I thought I might catch down the edge. So fed a pot of maggots every half an hour from 1. o'clock.
Went on this at 2:30 and didn't have a bite so went back long pinging. I then caught a couple of skimmers on the deck and caught 2 carp shallow.
I weighed 45lb.
4th overall.
3rd was 47lb
And 2nd was 52lb.
Well done to chris telling winning the match.
I felt If I'd of know a little more about the venue I'd of done a little better and maybe got 2nd?
With the weights being so tight just shows how fair the venue really is.
A big mirror that I lost at the net has cost me to.
Looking forward to going back.
