Awesome weekend this weekend!!!

Saturday 17th October saw me at manor farm on the open. 14 anglers turned up so both lakes were in, Middle pool and Windmill pool. I really fancied drawing on windmill pool and thankfully I did! Peg 22 stuck to my hand.

This is down the far end of the lake in the deep water and I had a bit of room. Kept my approach very simple and only kitted up a few rigs.

Started at 13m on the deck where I caught really steadily all match and spent pretty much all day on. I did come short when my long line died but only had a great big F1 on it! At the all out I didnt really feel like Id done enough to win my lake as heard Chris Telling next peg had been catching.

I weighed in 79-0-0 which was first on my lake and put me 3rd overall with 84-0-0 coming off Middle pool. Really enjoyed the day and was looking forward to the next day.

Sunday 18th October saw me fishing a team of 4 match at Cob House fishery in Worcester. I was pegged on Laugherne Island Peg 10.  The lake has a series of 3 islands and I drew right in the middle of the middle island. Again I kept my approach very simple and just fished pellets on the pole.

For the first part of the match I struggled for only a few fish but eventually got my head down and caught a few fish long.
I finished the day with 74-0-0 which was 2nd on my lake. With only 78-0-0 winning I was annoyed as I lost around 5 carp.

I had heard that my other team members had done well and Jordan Holloway won his lake on wyatts with 115-0-0 amd Owen Robinson won his lake with 62-0-0 and Andy had struggled on his lake for around 6th. So with 2 firsts places and a second we won!!! Really happy with that as we came 4th last year but was nice to come back and win it!

All in all a very nice weekend which I thoroughly enjoyed!

Manor farm leisure open - Saturday 10th October - Windmill lake

Love this lake, always had a decent day when ive fished this lake. Not many turned up so I felt I would need 100lb+ to be anywhere in the frame. I drew peg 15, this is on one of the islands and is a good peg! So was very happy to be on it.

Kept the set up very simple and very for wmet for an out and out pole and pellet approach. The islands at 17m so with 16.5m I could just reach a stump to my left slightly.

Rig 1 - Pellet line across to the island.

Rig 2 - 13m deck rig in open water

Rig 3 - Shallow rig

And a few duplicates.

Started off to the island pinging pellets and in the first hour had around 10 f1s and 2 carp.
This then suddenly died and couldn't buy a bite there!

So went on the deck at 13m and continued putting some fish in the net. After a while on the deck I had been pinging pellets so went shallow and had a few more.

Throughout the day kept switching between each line to keep fish coming. And had a great big mirror that was 14lb!

At the weigh in 118 was winning and I weighed 105-0-0. Chris Telling next peg had 122-0-0 which put him first and I ended up 3rd.

Really enjoyed the day and I feel I should of gone on the deck earlier as this produced bigger fish.

Manor farm leisure open - Boundary Pool - Thursday 1'st October.

Not very often but today I booked the day off work to fish the open at Manor Farm. Had been looking forward to it all week.

At the draw I saw myself heading towards peg 38. Love this peg! The last 3 matches I've fished on here I've been lucky enough to draw this peg twice! Its an out and out pole peg so set my stall out on mainly fishing the pole.

Rigs were as followed:

13m Pellet line - 0.4 float to 0.15 - 0.11. 18 B911.

Identical rig but with a spade hook for fishing expander pellets in case it got hard.

A bomb, for if I really needed it.

I really set my mind on staying on the pole and hopefully catching on it most of the day. At the all in I fed 40 pellets through a big pot and then shipped out my rig with 10 pellets in the cad pot and lowered in my rig. Had 2 early F1s within the first five minutes and then couldn't get a bite.

As the day progressed starting pinging on the pole and in the first few hours only had a few fish so picked up my bomb rod and sat on that for an hour and a half and by 2;30 I had about 7 F1s and was off the pace.

I decided to big 3/4 of a pot of pellets in at 13m and go straight on it, this was a good idea as after 5 minutes of lifting and dropping the float slid under and I was attached to an angry rather large common! weighing around 8lb. After that I went back in and foul hooked an F1 so got me thinking. I increased the pinging of pellets and decided to fish shallow. By now we only had 45 minutes left so It was a brave decision. But the right one!

After 15 minutes of working hard, slapping, feeding, repeat I had my first fish and from then on I caught really well till the end.

On the clicker I had 16 fish. 14 F1s and 2 carp. I weighed in 52-0-0. This put me 4th out of the 13 that fished.

Round up: I felt my match could of gone better and if the wind would of stopped earlier I could of fished shallow earlier on in the day. Really enjoyed the day as always and learnt a lot.
